Asif rules out military interference in govt affairs
ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday asked critics, who claimed that the military is interfering in government affairs, should first compare today with the past, ARY News reported.
In his interview to a foreign news agency, Khawaja Asif said the military directly ruled Pakistan for 40 years, while it has also been indirectly influencing governments in the country.
“This should be understood that we are passing through a transitional phase and we will successfully reach out destination in next 3-4 years,” he said.
The minister admitted he was a critic of military rule in country and he still opposes it, however he expressed satisfaction over today’s atmosphere in country.
Asif vowed to raise the voice of his conscience, if he got panicked by military’s interference in affairs of civil government.
