CL T20: Lahore Lions comprehensively beat Southern Express
RAIPUR: Lahore Lions has defeated Southern Express by 55 runs in the qualifying match today played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, ARY News reported.
Lahore Lions, after being invited to bat first, went 3 down for 52 before skipper Mohammad Hafeez took the charge.
After 15 overs, Lions were 89 for 3 but Hafeez changed gears blasting Seekkuge Prasanna for a four and three successive sixes off the first four balls of the 16th over, in which 25 runs were added to the Lions total. 75-run were added in last 5 overs ending Lions inning at 164 for 6.
Hafeez made 67 off 40 balls while Saad Nasim scored 31 off 25 balls.
Chasing the target, Southern Express were dominated by some good bowling from Lions. Aizaz Cheema dismissed the top three with the score on 36.
Cheema, who ended his spell 3-0-15-3, missed out on a hat-trick for the third successive match in the tournament.
Captain of Express Jehan Mubarak was the top scorer with 35 runs for his side.
Southern Express were all out for 109 in 18 overs.
The victory has inched Lahore Lions closer to the main draw of the CL T20 although their future in the tournament will be decided only at the end of the game between Northern Knights and Mumbai Indians.
